Automatically deleting Cookies

Please note: We do not recommend to automatically delete all cookies because this can create issues with your website. Read more.

Enable automatic Cookie deletion

The automatic deletion of cookies & localStorage items can be enabled in Menu > CMPs > Edit > Legal Settings > Delete Cookies. You can choose between:

  1. do not automatically delete cookies
  2. automatically delete all cookies
  3. automatically delete only selected cookies

Once enabled, you will find a new column in Menu > Cookies which either shows an eraser icon (to signal that this cookie will be deleted) or an umbrella icon (to signal that this cookie will not be deleted). Click on the icon to change the mode for each cookie.

How the system will delete cookies & localStorage

Before deleting cookies or localStorage, the system will check if the associated vendor has consent. If consent is given, the cookie/localStorage item will not be deleted.

If the cookie is set to be erased, the cookie will be deleted in the following cases:

  • Cookie/localStorage is unknown and “Delete Cookies” setting is set to delete all cookies
  • Cookie/localStorage is known and set to be erased

Please note, that it is not possible to erase third party cookies.
