Italy publishes accessibility guidance under the EAA
Italy’s Agency for Digital Italy (AgID) has released practical guidance for digital services required to meet the European Accessibility Act (EAA). The guidelines cover e-commerce, banking, telecoms, and transport, and outline specific standards that digital interfaces need to follow.

Spanish DPA issues fine over biometric age verification
Spain’s data protection authority (AEPD) has fined Yoti €950,000 for multiple violations related to biometric processing in age verification. The ruling flagged unlawful processing of biometric data, pre-ticked consent boxes, and excessive data retention.
Age verification is under increasing regulatory scrutiny across Europe. If your platform verifies user age, review your current approach against the latest requirements. Our age verification feature can help you verify users without storing unnecessary biometric data.
Maryland Online Data Privacy Act in effect since April 1st
The Maryland Online Data Privacy Act (MODPA) took effect on April 1, 2026. It introduced strict data minimization requirements, mandatory recognition of universal opt-out signals, and fines of up to $25,000 for repeat violations. If you collect data from Maryland residents, make sure your consent setup recognizes opt-out signals and limits data collection to what’s strictly necessary.

CCPA whistleblower bill introduces new protections
A proposed bill would expand the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) with whistleblower provisions, including financial rewards for whistleblowers, anti-retaliation protections, and anonymous complaint channels.
If the bill passes, businesses subject to the CCPA may need an internal reporting mechanism. A whistleblowing tool gives employees a secure, anonymous channel to report concerns, while helping you document and respond to complaints in a structured way.
